Pyramid mahogany (khana sp.) comes from controlled licensed forests in West Africa. Rough pyramids are sawn from the appropriate forks in the trees. The veneers made from this wood are very beautiful due to unique smooth cut, and the remarkable and decorative pyramid design that reflects light. The initially light red to reddish-brown colour darkens with time to the typical warm mahogany tone with a golden shimmer. Birdseye maple (acer saccharum) has a figured grain texture and is a variant of the North American hard sugar maple tree that grows in the north-eastern part of North America. The wood is largely light-coloured and has a fine porous structure, and the so-called birdseyes have 3 - 5 mm diameters occurring in intervals of about one centimetre apart. Birdseye maple veneer is very delicate and glossy and is used in high-quality residential furniture and for the interior panelling of luxury limousines.
